About

Who I am and how I like to work.

I'm a backend-leaning full-stack engineer who has spent most of the last eight years as the person responsible for how a product's server side is designed, built and kept healthy.

At Jetmanlabs I was the founding engineer, choosing the stack and architecture for an API-testing platform and its Electron desktop client. Since 2023 I've led the backend of Truck Parking Club, a two-sided marketplace where property owners list truck parking and drivers and fleets book it — hourly to monthly, with dynamic pricing, role-based organisations and Stripe underneath everything.

The lead part of the job is what I enjoy most: running feasibility studies for upcoming features, turning vague requirements into scoped deliverables with product and design, and making architecture calls that the team can live with for years. I care about clean schemas, sensible failure modes, and code that's boring in all the right places.

Off the clock I read a lot, tinker with developer tools, and I'm currently deep in AI agents and LLM integrations — wiring conversational agents into real production systems rather than demos.

Outside of software, I run my family's dairy farm — Dhaliwal Dairy Farms in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab: a small herd of cows and buffaloes, fresh milk delivered to neighbourhood homes every morning. Though software has a way of following me home — I'm building the farm's management app too.

  1. Feb 2025 — Present

    Senior Software Engineer · Truck Parking Club

    Backend and platform work on the marketplace, now in-house.

    • Own the server side of the platform: business logic, API design and performance, database schema and operations for landowners, drivers, fleet managers and admins.
    • Leading the move from a monolith to a hybrid microservices architecture — a pluggable notifications service (SMS and email via Twilio and SendGrid) and a bookings service decoupled from the order module.
    • Payments and subscriptions on Stripe: payment-method resolution, SetupIntent and CustomerSession flows, subscription scheduling, webhook handling for failed invoices and cancellations, refunds and coupons.
    • Performance and caching with a centralised Redis layer; queue-backed background work with BullMQ.
    • Shipping a React Native mobile app for iOS and Android, and integrating an AI voice/chat agent with session-token identity into the React web app.

    Engaged via Codelux Technologies. Led the backend and architecture on both products.

    • Replatformed Truck Parking Club off Sharetribe onto a custom Node.js backend, so listings, bookings, pricing, payouts and permissions could be built around how truck parking actually works instead of a hosted template.
    • Set the platform architecture the product still runs on — schema, API surface, role-based organisations and payment flows.
    • Ran feasibility studies for upcoming features, defined scope and planned deliverables with cross-functional teams, then saw them through to shipping on time.
    • Delivered Feasttt, an order-management platform for fine-dining restaurants — reservations, staff, orders, payments, refunds and owner analytics.

    Lead Engineer · Jetmanlabs

    API-testing platform and cross-platform desktop client — a free alternative to Postman.

    • Led architecture, design and stack selection for the Jetman platform, letting engineers build and validate REST APIs end to end.
    • Built the backend in Node.js and MongoDB on Google Cloud, and designed the client strategy around Electron to ship native apps on macOS, Windows and Linux from one codebase.
    • Acted as full-stack engineer across several products and set the engineering practices the team grew into.

    First engineering role, straight out of college.

    • Designed and built the backend infrastructure that later products were built on, with Node.js, MongoDB, Firebase and Stripe.
    • Shipped the hard parts of client products — recurring payments, RBAC and webhook event systems.
    • Worked closely with the front-end team so that API contracts, auth and data models fit together cleanly.

A two-sided marketplace for truck parking. Property owners list spaces with location, size and pricing; drivers and fleet managers book hourly, daily, weekly or monthly; admins run refunds, coupons and listings from a dashboard. I've led the backend and platform architecture since 2023.
